Special ed advocacy course offered
Rene Folse, an attorney and licensed child psychologist, will present a “Special Education Advocacy” course designed to help parents learn how to navigate the school system and regional centers as well as how to create an individualized education program.
The course will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays, March 4 and 18 and April 1 in room 117 of the humanities building on the campus of California Lutheran University, 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks.
Parents, teachers and attorneys are invited to attend. The cost for attorneys taking the course for MCLE credits is $99 per day or $249 for all 18 hours. There is no cost for families and others not taking the course for credit, but PAUSE4kids welcomes optional donations to defray the costs of this seminar. All proceeds are donated by the presenter to PAUSE4kids, a community-based 501c (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advocacy, support and education of the public about the needs of children with disabilities.
