‘Charlotte’s Web’ coming to T.O. stage A musical production of “Charlotte’s Web,” based on the children’s classic by E.B. White, will be presented at 1 and 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, from March 5 to 12, by the Conejo Children’s Theatre at the Conejo Players Theatre, 351 S. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks. Admission is $8. For reservations, call (805) 495-3715. Since this work is a part of the school district’s core curriculum, special day-time shows have been scheduled. The cast is comprised of 54 performers directed by John Gaston, a newcomer to the Children’s Theatre program. Thirteen families have at least two members in the cast. This will also be the first children’s show to use the new Charles E. Padilla orchestra pit. Assistant music director Julie Milligan and Mark Grisez will accompany the shows. “Charlotte’s Web” is a story that teaches friendship, selflessness, bravery, love, and teamwork as a young farm girl, Fern Arable, rescues Wilbur, a runt pig, from her father’s axe. When Wilbur is moved to the Arables’ relatives, he’s befriended by a wise, gray spider named Charlotte, who works tirelessly to save him from his impending doom of becoming “the other white meat.” Will Charlotte and the other animals of the Zuckerman Barn succeed in saving young Wilbur? Families are invited to watch this colorful production, designed for the young and young at heart. |
