Dickens tale to be broadcast
Actress Charlene Tilton, a former star of the television series “Dallas,” will serve as the celebrity guest host for the Ventura-based Every Now and Then Theatre’s 16th year of presenting a radio drama of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol— A Ghost Story.” Goldcoast Broadcasting’s AM 1520 KVTA will air the locally produced program, without commercial interruption, on Christmas Eve, Sat., Dec. 24, at 11 a.m., 4 and 10 p.m. The KVTA broadcast may also be heard on their website at www.kvta.com. Robert “Doc” Reynolds of Ventura will star as Ebeneezer Scrooge.
“This time we’re enhancing the ghostly aspect for listeners with more in-studio effects combined with our hand-built effects performed by the actors,” said codirector Linda Stiegler. The group’s production has garnered eight media awards for their last three “Christmas Carol” radio dramas.
The Every Now and Then Theatre’s Dickens dramas are adapted and co-directed by Stiegler, who’s from Thousand Oaks, and radio theatre founder James Wortman. Sound designers are Shaun Lile from Moorpark, Glenn Porter from the Conejo Valley and Wortman. The Conejo Valley Congregational Church is among the supporters of this year’s all-volunteer project by providing performance space.
