Women’s Club raises $18,000 for area charities

The Westlake Village Junior Women’s Club raised more than $18,000 at the 24th annual Gingerbread Fundraising Boutique held at St. Maximilian Catholic Church in Westlake Village.

New to the event this year was the gingerbread house competition, with nine entries from residents and pastry chefs. The houses were sold through a silent auction, raising more than $800.

Sherry Sonne of Agoura Hills won the competition and received a $250 cash prize, which she donated back to the club.

The event proceeds were distributed to Conejo Valley organizations such as Manna, Many Mansions, American Cancer Society, Lighthouse Women and Children Mission, Thousand Oaks Teen Center, Performing Arts Reaching Children, Big Brothers and Sisters of the Conejo and others.
