Learn the art of rose pruning
The Ventura County Rose Society will host a pruning demonstration––specifically, how to prune old garden roses–– at 9 a.m. Sat., Jan. 21 in the Heritage Rose Garden on the grounds of Stagecoach Inn Museum, 51 S. Ventu Park Road, Newbury Park. The demonstration will be presented by Jeri Jennings, consulting rosarian and founder of the Gold Coast Heritage Rose Society. In addition, Jim Delahanty and Ingrid Wapelhorst, Ventura County Rose Society consulting rosarians, will demonstrate how to prune “China and Polyantha” roses as well as “Teas and Hybrid Perpetual” roses. On Sat., Jan. 28 pruning volunteers may take cuttings to start heritage roses.
For more information on the demonstration or on volunteer rose pruners (who work once a month at the museum’s Heritage Rose Garden), please visit the website at www.venturarose.org or call Kathy Ayers at (805) 498-0861.
