School fundraiser evisited one more time

While I was pleased that you at least printed my wife’s letter commenting on Ms. Knight’s abysmal article about our school’s only fundraiser, I was extremely shocked and disappointed by the Acorn’s comment after the letter.

It appears that the original article written by Ms. Knight was written not as an editorial, but as a news story. Clearly, it was not a true news story because it had a specific point of view, which was quite biased at that.

This brings me to the reason for my disappointment with your commenting on Jenna’s letter. Once again, you wrote, “While we agree with this . . . however, we don’t agree with that . . .”

To reiterate, these comments should be left to the editorial page and written in the first person. My understanding of a newspaper is that it is supposed to report the news in an unbiased fashion and leave the personal comments for the editorials.

From what I have seen in your last two issues, you appear no better than the L.A. Times regarding this issue. Shame on you!

For the record, my wife has received nothing but praise from everyone who was involved with the event––from the sponsors, to the parents, to the kids who participated. We would love to allow the anonymous critical parent the opportunity to step up and handle the event next year, but unfortunately, that would mean the end of some very important programs at our school.
