Mt. Boney 4-H Club honors youth flower show winners
The ornamental horticulture project members of the Mt. Boney 4-H Club recently presented “Holiday Americana,” a youth flower show, at the Newbury Park Library.
The display included artistic designs and horticulture entries.
Prize winners included Emmaline Trockey, Best of Show in the horticulture division for her windmill terrarium.
Trockey and Brenda Bass tied for floral Best of Show.
During the event, Gwendolyn Williams presented an educational exhibit on roses, and Trockey and Ellery Vincent demonstrated poultry showmanship skills.
Along with the flower show, project exhibits were displayed by Brenda Bass in arts and craft, Trockey in poultry, Kathleen Bass in rabbits, Marirose Meyer in sheep and Amelia Meyer in sewing and quilting.
Several Mt. Boney primary members (kindergarten through third grade) were honored this month during the Ventura County 4-H Achievement Night at Somis School. Recognized club members included Hannah and Katelyn Sallee; Arianna Pizzuti; Vincent, Amelia and Marirose Meyer; and Brenda and Kathleen Bass.
