Knife may have made small crime a big one

CAPTURED AND CUFFED–Thousand Oaks law enforcement officers, assisted by a police dog and helicopter, apprehend suspected shoplifter Margarito Galvan after he was caught stealing compact disc players from the Rite Aid drugstore on Thousand Oaks Boulevard last Friday. When confronted by a manager, Galvan displayed a knife in a threatening manner, which turned petty theft into a much more serious crime. He scuffled with the store manager and managed to escape, but the manager and another employee chased Galvan across Westlake Boulevard and into The Promenade, where he was caught hiding in some bushes.
