T.O. ice skaters better bring their billfolds

I am writing in regard to the article “You can now ice skate in Thousand Oaks.” Finally, there is something good about The Lakes on T.O. Boulevard.

When The Lakes opened in Thousand Oaks, I said to myself, “Why build such an expensive shopping center, on such a small plot of land, with only two types of stores––food and expensive clothes?” Then I remembered this is Thousand Oaks: people here like to eat and shop. But now there is ice skating.

Unfortunately, having to pay $7 for one hour of skating does not remind me of winter pastimes. Does the fact that it is an outdoor skating rink justify the hourly charge?

Easy Street ice skating rink (in Simi Valley) charges one flat rate for all day ice skating fun.

I guess what I am trying to say is it’s going to be funny watching people with over $100 in Brighton merchandise get on the rink and collide with someone carrying two large bags from Kalologie. Peter Eblin Thousand Oaks
