Seminar in Camarillo to address new Medicare prescription drug benefits

All medical-eligible seniors and disabled beneficiaries are invited to learn about the Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit at a free seminar at 2 p.m. Thurs., Dec. 15 at AlmaVia of Camarillo.

The workshop will be led by Dennis Jurcak, senior health insurance counselor and community educator for the County of Ventura, Area Agency on Aging.

At the workshop, seniors will obtain the latest information on how Medicare Part D works with existing Medicare plans, including original Medicare, Medicare Advantage Plans (HMO), Medicare Supplements Plans (Medigap), Medicare Employer Retirement Plans, Tri-care and veterans benefits.

The workshop will explain all Medicare plans, the benefit structure, eligibility, enrollment and limited-income subsidies. An open forum for questions and answers will follow the presentation.

The event is sponsored by the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging, Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program and community education programs.
