Endorses Props. 73, 74, 75, 76, 77

I would urge all voters to use their right to vote this Nov. 8. I will be voting yes on 73, 74, 75, 76 and 77.

Prop. 73––return of parents’ rights with their minor child on abortion issues.

Prop. 74––competent teachers get tenure (a lifelong job guarantee) after five years instead of two years. Incompetent teachers won’t make the cut.

Prop. 75––(my favorite) will give union members the right to make sure their union dues will not go towards politics they disagree with.

As a retired 33-year firefighter that paid union dues the entire time I was employed, I did the “opt out” option with my union dues for political activities.

However, the ugly little secret is my union dues were still used for political activities I disagreed with. When I asked for proof that they were not being used, I was told you have to trust us.

Come on people, “trust us” is not the answer. When you vote on this issue, ask your self this simple question: Why are the unions spending so much money trying to defeat Prop. 75, if all union members support letting their dues go to political activities they disagreed with?

Prop. 76––fiscal responsibility, like we all are forced to do with our personal budgets. The schools have always been the big winners with our tax money. This will not change if Prop. 76 passes.

Prop. 77–this will take the preverbial fox out of the hen house. Let a third unrelated party decide how the legislature set their districts. The politicians hate this proposition. Ron Patterson Thousand Oaks
