Boy Scouts to collect items for food banks

Boy Scout troops in the San Fernando and Conejo valleys will be participating in a nationwide event, the annual Scouting for Food drive. Every Cub Scout pack, Boy Scout troop, varsity team, venturing crew and explorer post will make an impact by supporting and participating in this drive in which the food banks served by the Salvation Army will be the primary beneficiaries, according to Eliot Brown, the event’s district chairman.

Scouts will distribute grocery bag “door hangers” throughout neighborhoods on the morning of Sat., Nov. 5. The bags will contain instructions describing the acceptable type of foods and packaging. The bags, and any additional bags filled, should be left out on the front doorstep for collection by Scouts beginning around 9 a.m. Sat., Nov. 12.
