Jewish Academy to offer variety of classes The Conejo Jewish Academy will be offering a variety of classes, programs, study groups and special events beginning this month. The following is a sampling. The new Jewish Women’s Circle, where women will explore Judaism and spirituality while fostering friendships, sharing and growth, will kick off with a breakfast/workshop at 11 a.m. Sun., Nov. 6 at Chabad of Oak Park, Mei Menachem Mikvas Devorah, 5998 Conifer St., Oak Park. Neira Cohen will lead a “Jewish Meditation and Painting Workshop.” There is an $18 per person fee and reservations are required. The new Circle will offer monthly workshops and lectures as well as a listing of free weekly study groups. Author and lecturer Chana Weisberg will discuss her book “Divine Whispers” in December. The fall semester of the Conejo Jewish Academy begins Tues., Nov. 8. Classes are offered on weekday evenings. Fees typically begin at $18 for multiple session courses. A catalogue is available detailing classes, which will be offered in Agoura Hills as well as Calabasas, Oak Park, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley. Participants may learn about the Kabbalah, Jewish prayers, Jewish death rituals and much more. Weekly Bible study groups and women’s programs are also planned. Among the fall semester offerings will be “The Holocaust— A View from the Soul,” offered at 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 9 through Dec. 14, which will explore how the Holocaust continues to affect the world today. Iwill focus on how the Holocausforces mankind to grapple with the existence of evil and suffering; how it challenges mankind to find faith and optimism in the face of devastation and despair. RabbMoshe Bryski will be the instructor. The class fee is $65 per person for registration and materialand early enrollment is suggested The Academy is at 30345 Canwood St., Agoura Hills.
