Helpers needed to teach reading

Koreh L.A., the Los Angeles Jewish Coalition for Literacy, is looking for volunteer “reading partners.” Volunteers will help children at public schools throughout Los Angeles gain the reading readiness skills they need to succeed.

Reading partners are paired one-on-one with at-risk children in classes ranging from pre-kindergarten to third grade.

Upcoming training sessions will be offered on Sun., Nov. 6 at the following locations:

From 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Temple Aliyah, 6025 Valley Circle Blvd., Woodland Hills.

From 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the New JCC at Milken, Bernard Milken Jewish Community Campus, 22622 Vanowen St., West Hills.

This training is open to eighthto 12th-graders only.
