Vote yes on 7374, 75, 76, 77 Regarding the propositions, especially No. 76, the Conejo Valley Unified School District Board of Education is completely out of control. If you had an opportunity to review the Oct. 10 meeting on Channel 20, you would have noticed some very unprofessional editing. Perhaps it was done on purpose. Anyway, during the presentations to the board, a PTA representative, Peggy Buckles, spent much of her time introducing herself as a member of this and a member of that, in charge of this and in charge of that—ad nauseum. Then she proceeded to have the board play the opposition TV video commercial to Prop. 76 on the big screen and then read her resolution to our board. Later, this proposition amazingly appeared as an action item to be voted on. Only Mike Dunn made any sense. He refused to vote either way because it was at this time not clear in his mind how to vote. The only other board member to comment was board president Tim Stevens who made the usual “sound bite” union tripe. How is he able to violate the Brown Act by having the board members vote on something that had not been brought before the public until that meeting? Are our administrators of the school district so fearful of him that they can’t even advise him anymore? Then Ms. Phelps and Ms. Beaubien voted with Dr. Stevens to oppose Prop. 76 and they didn’t give any reasons for their vote. Thankfully, Delores Didio was conveniently absent and so did not have to vote. Remember this when you go to vote: our Gov. Schwarzenegger is not backing down and he is adamant in reforming California. Give him a chance. He needs all our support. Please vote yes on 73 (Parental Notification), yes on 74 (Teacher Tenure to Five Years), yes on 75 (Paycheck Protection), yes on 76 (Live Within Our Means) and yes on 77 (Redistricting).
