Star Party open to public

The Ventura County Astronomical Society will host a public Star Party at 8 p.m. Sat., Nov. 5 at the Charles Temple Observatory on the campus of Moorpark College, Moorpark.

The party will begin with a short slide presentation, followed by star gazing through the observatory and club member’s telescopes. The purpose of this party is to observe Mars’ upcoming opposition with Earth on Nov. 6.

The event is appropriate for children ages 8 and older. Participants are encouraged to dress warmly and to bring binoculars and lawn chairs, but no white flashlights.
