Westlake Church has new home

The Westlake Church of Religious Science will host the official grand opening of its new home at Watercourt at 10 a.m. Sun., Nov. 6.

The public is invited.

The church was chartered in the Conejo Valley in 1963. Since that time the church has served the spiritual needs of the community through teaching the principles of religious science and science of mind. Co-pastors Dr. Sue Rubin and the Rev. James Lockard quote Dr. Ernest Holmes, founder of the Church of Religious Science, as defining the tradition of religious science in this way:

“Religious science is a correlation of the laws of science, the opinions of philosophy and the revelations of religion as applied to human needs and aspirations.”

Rubin will celebrate her 10th year with the church in 2006. Lockard has been with the church since August. According to music director Cherie Deeds, the grand opening will feature music performed by the church choir and in-house band.

A tour of the facility and a light reception will follow the 10 a.m. Celebration of Life service. The address is 880 Hampshire Road, Suites V and W.
