United Methodist Women to host holiday boutique

A Holiday Boutique and Alternative Christmas Gift Market will be offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat., Nov. 5 in Alton Hall at the United Methodist Church of Westlake Village, 1049 S. Westlake Blvd., Westlake Village. The event is sponsored by the church’s Women’s Ministries.

The boutique will feature hand-crafted articles, Christmas specialties, gifts suitable for teachers and babies, crocheted and knitted decorative scarves and an estate sale of vintage jewelry and collectible china.

The Alternative Christmas Gift market is for shoppers who seek to honor friends and families with gifts that benefit others. For a donation to a charity, shoppers receive cards describing the cause to give to their friends.

Some of the gift market recipients are as follows:

A gift of $5 will provide a blanket for disaster victims through the Church World Service Blanket Program.

A donation of $5 to $25 will purchase building supplies for Habitat for Humanity’s Women’s Build in Oxnard.

Heifer Project International, a nonprofit ecumenical agency, sends food-producing animals and poultry to farmers around the world. Prices range from $5 for bees to $500 for a heifer.

A $5 gift to the Childhood Immunization Program sponsored by UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) will vaccinate a child against several diseases.

Gifts from $3 to $40 will provide medical care to uninsured low-income families at the Westminster Clinic.
