Likes Town Center concept for city of Westlake Village I know I’m sticking my neck out here with some of my neighbors, but I feel compelled to put in my 2 cents regarding the proposed Westlake Village Town Center. I happen to be in favor of the project because of two critical factors. One, I believe the Town Center is the least objectionable of our choices. And two, I do not believe we need another large office building in a city the size of Westlake Village. Some of you may not know this, but this parcel will be built on with either a commercial office complex or an open-air retail center. That’s it––there are no other choices! A retail center will bring in city revenues, traffic will be spread out throughout the day (as opposed to concentrated early morning, lunch and late afternoon “office hours” traffic), a wide variety of jobs will be created with sporadic employee start and stop times, and most importantly, the city of Westlake Village will have a central location much like The Promenade and The Commons. I have been impressed with the care with which the designers have listened to our city officials and intertwined their suggestions into their renderings. They have designed a creative entry and exit into the center that will minimize the traffic impact on the surrounding neighbors. And the open-air design is inviting to shoppers, diners and those of us who simply enjoy sitting outside soaking in our amazing weather and surroundings. Also, according to the city of Westlake Village website, “Companies seeking to relocate or expand will find a wide range of commercial business parks available within the city.” Enough said about another office complex. I urge everyone to simply weigh the facts about the proposed center before making a decision. Our elected officials have done an outstanding job in sprucing up our city. I trust that they have our best interests in mind. I support them and I support the proposed Town Center. Jeanne Harrison Westlake Village |
