Nonprofit sponsors prayer breakfast The Magis Institute, a nonprofit Catholic organization based in Irvine, will sponsor the Southern California Catholic Prayer Breakfast on Tues., Sept. 27 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, 555 W. Temple St., Los Angeles. His Eminence Cardinal Roger Mahony has opened the doors of the Cathedral for this year’s event, which features a 6:30 a.m. Rosary, 7 a.m. Celebration of Holy Mass, and 7:45 a.m. breakfast and program, with Rev. Robert J. Spitzer, S.J. delivering the keynote address. Spitzer is a Jesuit priest and president of Gonzaga University. He was previously a professor of business ethics and director of the Institute of Professional Ethics at Seattle University and has worked in an advisory role with more than 300 companies. The Magis Institute, founded in 2002 by business leaders and corporate executives, hosts retreats and conferences designed to highlight the role of faith, spirituality, and ethics in transforming the modern business culture. Since its inception, Magis has offered spiritual retreats and conferences based on the exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola. The event will take place on the Cathedral Plaza.
