YMCA will host event for basketball league
Conejo Valley YMCA to host cliniccelebration 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sat., Sept. 24
Children in kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to attend the Junior Lakers/YWinners Basketball League opening celebration and basketball clinic from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sat., Sept. 24 at the Conejo Valley YMCA, 4031 N. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks. The event is free and open to youth in Moorpark, Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park. Y-Winners promotes teamwork, fair play and family involvement. “Everyone plays,” said Chris Catalano, YMCA program director. “We don’t have a first string or second string squad. All participants learn the skills of the game, have fun and participate. We consider this an instructional league that provides an alternative to competitive leagues. Each team members receives equal playing time in every league game.” A game and practice takes place once a week. All participants receive a Junior Lakers jersey.
