Police department receives two new Honda motorcycles

Thousand Oaks motorcycle cops are riding in style thanks to a gift of two motorcycles.

The Honda ST1300P bikes were presented at last week’s city council meeting. T.O. Police Chief Dennis Carpenter thanked Peter Wagner, owner of Thousand Oaks Honda Suzuki, for the donation.

Motorcycle police are often the first to arrive at the scene of an incident because the bikes can get through traffic, Carpenter said.

The idea to donate two bikes occurred to Wagner after the police department purchased a 2005 ST1300P earlier in the year. According to Honda Suzuki’s website, each bike is about $17,000.

“Luckily I’ve never been in need of police assistance, but if I was I would want these guys on the best equipment money can buy. That’s those motorcycles,” Wagner said.
