Exhibit to highlight botanical art
The Botanical Artists Guild of Southern California will present “Inspired by Nature: Paintings and Drawings by Botanical Artists,” an exhibition of contemporary art by California artists at the Creative Arts Center Gallery, 1100 W. Clark Ave., Burbank.
The show opens Fri., Oct. 7 and an artists’ reception is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. Fri., Oct. 14. From 1 to 4 p.m. Sat., Oct. 22 a workshop will be presented.
This event will include lectures on botany and art, demonstrations and a docent tour of the art on display. The fee for the workshop is $25.
The show will include works in watercolor, graphite, oil and colored pencil. Members of the guild are artists, scholars and collectors. The guild is a chapter of the American Society of Botanical Artists, an organization devoted to encouraging the development of botanical art and promoting public awareness of this centuries-old artistic tradition.
The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mon. through Thurs.; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fri.; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sat. For additional information, please call (818) 238-5397.
