Adoptive families needed for at-risk children
With more than 70,000 children removed from their parents’ homes due to abuse and neglect and 134,000 children waiting for adoptive homes in the U.S., there is a need for adults to provide a loving, nurturing home as either foster or adoptive parents.
A parent orientation will be held for adults interested in providing care for at-risk children from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tues., Sept. 27 at the Thousand Oaks Library, 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.
Adults may be single or married, Englishor Spanish-speaking.
Qualifying families receive extensive training, certification, funds and 24-hour support to aid in the care of their foster or adoptive children. Training is provided by Children’s Bureau, a licensed foster family and adoptive agency.
