Jazz trio to play during worship service at St. Patrick’s Church

The Matt Harris Jazz Trio will play during the worship service at 10:15 a.m. Sun., Sept. 11 at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, One Church Road, Thousand Oaks.

The combo’s appearance is part of “The Arts at St. Patrick’s” performance series from August to December that integrates diverse musical styles into the church experience.

Director of Jazz Studies at CSUN and a Thousand Oaks resident, Matt Harris is a writer/ arranger who has played with Maynard Ferguson, Buddy Rich, Rita Moreno and Tom Jones. The trio consists of Harris on piano, bassist Domenic Genova and drummer Lee Spath.

“Matt Harris is an internationally recognized musician and teacher. Bringing his jazz into a spiritual setting will be breathtaking,” said Steve O’Connor, music director for St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church.
