State-mandated class open for hunters

The Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District is offering a state-certified Hunter’s Education Course at the Oak Park Community Center, 1000 N. Kanan Road, Oak Park. The 10-hour course will be conducted 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tues., Aug. 16 and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sat., Aug. 20.

Participants must attend both sessions to receive credit. The course fee is $20.

California requires all firsttime hunters to complete a hunter’s education program before purchasing a hunting license. Training covers hunters’ responsibilities, wildlife conservation, management, identification, firearm safety, survival and first aid.
