Magazine names Ventura County one of the best places to live

The May issue of Scientific America has named Ventura County one of the most desirable locations to live in the U.S., based upon a variety of criteria.

The ratings, determined by the Economic Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, are based on the following factors: January temperature and sunshine, temperature gain between January and July, July humidity, water area and topographic variation.

Ventura County received a desirability score of 100 on a scale of 1 to 100, with the national average falling at 37.

The survey included every county in the 48 contiguous states.
