Senior Center offers array of programs

The Goebel Senior Adult Center offers a wide array of programs for senior adults each month at 1385 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks. For a complete listing of programs, special events and excursions, or to make reservations, please call Rachel Cowen at (805) 381-2744.

Among the August programs are the following:

From 10 a.m. to noon Thurs., Aug. 18, staff from U.S. Rep. Henry Waxman’s office will present a seminar titled “Waxman’s Neighborhood.” The staff will conduct a question and answer session on topics including working with federal agencies and obtaining grants and funding. Reservations are required.

From 1 to 2 p.m. Sat., Aug. 20, Jeanne Dallman will lead a seminar titled “Clothing Feng Shui.” Dallman is an author and adjunct English professor. Her seminar is directed toward women. She’ll teach how wardrobe can determine mood and behavior, affect self-esteem and send a message to others about goals and needs. Reservations are required.

Advance tickets are currently on sale for a magic show presented by “Magic Jack” from 3 to 4 p.m. Mon., Aug. 29. The show is open to all ages, and seniors are invited to bring their children and grandchildren. The cost for children 12 and under is $1, $3 for adults.

Tickets should be purchased this month to attend the Labor Day Breakfast from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Mon., Sept. 5 at the Center. Presented by McDonald’s and the Conejo Recreation & Park District, the breakfast is open to adults ages 50 and up for a $2 fee.

Entertainment will be provided.
