Conejo Valley Days to get new chairperson

Conejo Valley Days (CVD) will celebrate its 50th anniversary next spring, headed by a general chairperson who began volunteering 47 years ago, soon after the event first began.

Mary Ann Keeler was voted the 2006 Conejo Valley Days general chairperson by the Conejo Valley Activities Corporation, which oversees CVD. Keeler currently serves as the event’s rodeo coordinator and first served as general chairperson in 1983, the only time the entire five-day event was rained out.

Keeler said CVD was created to celebrate Conejo Valley’s Western heritage and help the community grow.

“The money raised in the early years went to build Dover and Hendrix Park (Conejo Community Park) and Estella Park,” Keeler said. “Those are two of our proudest achievements.”

Jean Duff was named on-site chairperson, responsible for the activities during the festival, and Marty Campbell was named off-site chairperson, responsible for all events other than the festival.

Last spring, the event attracted more than 45,000 festivalgoers.
