Tickets are available at the doorGypsy Productions, a musical theater summer program for children ages 7 to 14, will present performances of “The Sound Of Music” on Wed., July 27 and Thurs, July 28 at the Newbury Park High School Performing Arts Center, 456 N. Reino Road, Newbury Park.

“The Sound of Music” is the true story of a nun-in-training named Maria who becomes the governess to the seven children of an ex-naval captain, a widower who discourages any sign of frivolity.

With her charm and music, Maria wins over the rebellious children and eventually the captain. The play is filled with classic songs such as “Do Re Mi,” “My Favorite Things” and “The Sound of Music.”

Mayme Paul-Thompson is directing the production. A Broadway veteran and drama director at Lindero Canyon Middle School, Paul-Thompson formed Gypsy Productions seven years ago.
