Cops 4 Causes gala this Friday
The inaugural Cops 4 Causes Aloha Charity Gala will be from 4 to 10 p.m. Fri., July 22 at the Aloha Steakhouse on the California Street Promenade in Ventura.
Hosted by the Ventura Police Department, the festivities will include a VIP dinner at Aloha Steakhouse, celebrity bartenders, live entertainment, a concert on the Promenade, an art exhibit at the Artist Union Gallery and a silent auction.
Musical artists scheduled to appear are local talent Suzanne Paris and Southern California native band Bellevue. E Entertainment’s Ted Casablanca is among the celebrities who will partipate.
Tickets are $40 per person for dinner, entertainment and all the festivities and must to be purchased in advance. Tickets are $15 per person for the entertainment only.
The event is a part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, a fundraising and public awareness campaign for Ventura County Special Olympics (VCSO). Officers from the Ventura Police Department will be serving the dinner.
Proceeds from ticket sales and tips for the evening will be tax-deductible donations to VCSO to provide free athletic training and competition for more than 800 intellectually disabled children and adults in 20 sports at 50 training sites throughout Ventura County.
Ventura Police Officer Christopher Landavazo, event chair, is lending his volunteer time in memory of his sister, Monique, a special needs child who died at about 17 months old. “I wanted to do something unique, not only for Ventura County Special Olympics athletes, but as a way to remember my little sister,” said Landavazo. “I also want it to become a signature event for the city.”
Sponsors of the event include Affinity Bank, Ventura Life & Style, Aloha Steakhouse, Gold Line Towing, Ventura County Rainbow Alliance, Holiday Inn, KVTA AM 1520, Live 105.5 FM, The Octopus 95.5 FM, Max Muscle Ventura, LA-Z-BOY, Paddy’s, and the city of Ventura. Tickets are available through the Ventura Police Department, the Aloha Steakhouse and Palermo, and on the event website at www.venturalifeandstyle.com/ cops4causes.
