FIGHTING BACK–Above, Nancy Sullivan of Sherman Oaks uses every skill she’s learned to

defend herself at the Walksafe Women’s Urban Tactics and Survival workshop. The event was

hosted by Anthony Kleeman at the Lacombe Karate Studio in Westlake Village last Sunday.

Darin Arrasmith, wearing protective gear, acts like an attacker who won’t be deterred while Kleeman

encourages Sullivan to resist, continue her aggression and not give up. Fighting and fleeing are

the best options, according to Kleeman. Get adrenalized and keep resisting until it’s over, he

said. Below, Emily Foxhill, 17, who attended the workshop because a man recently chased her

while she was running with her track team, conducts drills on a dummy as Roger Lacombe watches.
