Gypsies in a Trunk to present ‘Sleeping Beauty’ in Westlake Village
Gypsies in a Trunk will continue their 11th season of presenting the “Fairy Tales in the Park” series for families with performances of “Sleeping Beauty” at 10:30 a.m. Sat., July 2 at Foxfield Park in Westlake Village and again at 4 p.m. at the Rancho Simi Bicentennial Amphitheatre in Rancho Simi Park, Simi Valley.
The evil fairy Boo, upset at not being invited to be godmother to Princess Rose, casts a spell on the little princess. Boo’s sweet but zany sisters, Bippity and Boppity, keep watch over the tomboyish princess, but Boo makes sure that her spell works. The play is interactive and Prince Charming himself will be in the audience.
Performances are free, but the actors will “pass the hat” at intermission for donations to help cover the costs of costumes and props.
Ample ground seating is available at all locations. Guests may bring blankets, lunch or snacks, but no animals are permitted except for service dogs.
The show was written by Roxanne Diesel, and cast members include Sarah Johnson, Pat Newbert, Deborah Parsons, Jenny Wong and Diesel.
