Women’s club awards scholarships to graduating seniors

The Scholarship Committee of the Westlake Women’s Club will present scholarships to a number of graduating seniors from Conejo Valley high schools at the award ceremony programs this month at the students’ schools. Headed by Marge Ceran, the committee will award $7,000 in scholarship funds.

WINNERS—Five high school students recently captured scholarships of $175 each to attend this year’s Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Seminar (HOBY). The UCLAbound Hsiou has an outstanding academic record, has been active in community and school service, and plans to become an attorney with the goal of attaining a judgeship or becoming an FBI agent.

Other scholarship winners are:

Min Chul Kim, Agoura High School; Angela Crespo, Oak Park High School; Kristen Onsgard, Newbury Park High School; Catherine Ngo, Thousand Oaks High School; and Tyffany Chen, Westlake High School.

Scholarships will also be awarded to students at Conejo Valley High School and Indian Hills High School; their names were to be announced at school award programs today, Thurs., June 16.

Members of the Westlake Women’s Club will present the scholarships during the various school ceremonies. Presenters are:

Berniece Bennett, Ruth Diehl, Mimi Lindsay, Cate Brown, Doris Rufener and Karen Oxrider.
