Five La Reina standouts

Jennifer has hobbies just like most teenagers. She likes to ski, surf and write poetry. Oh, one more thing—Jennifer owns her own business. Using her strong math and science background, Jennifer started National Calculator Programming Services, a web-based company. Jennifer writes and sells math programs for calculators. Not only is a member of the National Honor Society, Jennifer is also a National Merit and an AP Scholar.

Jennifer CurtinJennifer CurtinJennifer’s drive helped earn her first-team all-league selection in varsity tennis and golf. Although Jennifer has been accepted at Notre Dame, UCLA and Boston University and she’s still weighing all her options.

Alejandra Gutzeit-ZamoranoAlejandra Gutzeit-ZamoranoAlejandra, co-winner of La Reina’s Liberal Arts Award, is a National Hispanic and AP Scholar.

She’s the editor-in-chief of the yearbook and is a member of the student council. Alejandra is on both the cross country and track teams.

Alejandra was the recipient of the University of Rochester Humanities and Social Sciences award and will attend the University of Notre Dame.

Next fall, Sabrina will do something quite extraordinary— she’ll join her two older sisters at Harvard. A Presidential Scholar, Sabrina has been invited to a fourday conference in Washington, D.C. Teachers at La Reina say Sabrina isn’t only an academic standout—she scored a perfect 1600 on the SATs—but she’s a leader on the campus. Along with her duties as student body president, Sabrina heads the school’s literary magazine, the newspaper and the debate team. She’s a National Merit Finalist and an AP Scholar.

For Marella, the entire world is her stage. Winner of La Reina’s Performing Arts Award, Marella is a member of the Regent Performers and the Young Artists Ensemble.

Her love for acting, singing and dancing has led her to UC Berkeley, where she’ll study theater.

Marella MartinMarella MartinMarella’s artistic talents also include photography for the yearbook and contributions to La Reina’s literary magazine. She was a National Merit Finalist, an AP Scholar with Distinction and a member of the National Honor Society.

Game. Set. Match. Hailey’s a star when it comes to volleyball.

Athlete of the Year for La Reina, Hailey will attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo next fall on an athletic scholarship. She was the co-captain of the girls’ volleyball team for the past three years and has spent the last nine years playing club volleyball. She also excels when it comes to beach play. Haily’s nationally ranked team won the Amateur Athletic Union’s Hermosa Beach Tournament.
