Drama of friendship, discovery coming to Santa Paula Theater Center
Michael Healey’s drama “The Drawer Boy” will make its Ventura County debut under the direction of Frederick Helsel on Sun., June 19 at the Santa Paula Theater Center, 125 S.
7th St., Santa Paula.
The play will continue through Sun., July 31. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students and $10 for children and are available by calling the box office at (805) 525-4645.
Hailed as one of Time magazine’s Ten Best Plays of 2001, “The Drawer Boy” is the humorous and poignant story of Morgan and Angus, two Canadian farmers and lifelong friends who served together during World War II.
When a young actor from the city comes to live with the two bachelors to research a play, he stumbles upon the key to painful memories locked in the mind of one man that ultimately unlocks the hearts of them all.
This production of “The Drawer Boy” will feature Ronald Rezac as Morgan, David Burr as Angus and Peter Krause as Miles.
Re-creating the kitchen and exterior of a Canadian farmhouse will be scenic designer Jeff G. Rack with lighting design by Christian West. Randon Pool is costume designer under the guidance of producer Leslie Nichols.
