Lighthouse open this Saturday

The Port Hueneme Lighthouse will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat., June18. It’s at 120 W. Port Hueneme Road in Port Hueneme.

Visitors are directed to park by the port guard at the entrance gate, where they will be picked up by a shuttle and taken to the lighthouse. The last shuttle pickup at the port gate will be at 2:30 p.m.

The current structure was built in 1941. The original structure was built in 1874. The fresnel lens was made in 1897 and is still in operation.  The lighthouse is owned and operated by the U. S. Coast Guard. The exhibits on display include history and photos of the lighthouse and aids to navigation.

Admission is free. Adults 18 and older require a photo ID.

The lighthouse is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month. For information please call (310) 5410334.
