Science can be scary

When I was young, I was taught that the ends don’t justify the means. I was also made aware of the inhumanity of the Nazis in World War II when they experimented with human beings.

I also read “Brave New World,” where Aldous Huxley warns of cloning and other genetic and biological manipulation. At the time it all seemed so far away from reality, but now it’s here.

We’re presented with cloning of human embryos for the purpose of experimentation and all we get is yawns.

After all, everybody is doing it, and they promise all diseases will be cured, so it must be okay.

I can only hope that these efforts don’t succeed. I don’t want my grandchildren to live in a Brave New World.
