P6 restaurant is defended I am writing in response to the Thousand Oaks Acorn article of May 19 regarding complaints about the P6 restaurant. My wife and I have lived in the Stoneybrook development since 1987 on the opposite side from the restaurant. The article mentions David Berger, who lives 235 feet from the nearest side of P6. I question that there would be any noise he could hear from P6 but it would be more likely attributed to three other food businesses much closer to his home that have late night food delivery. Berger and Kerns purchased their homes knowing full well that an existing shopping center and restaurants were directly across the wall from their homes. A restaurant has always been in the P6 location, including one that operated 24 hours daily. Did these people not notice where their homes were located when they bought? I also question Berger’s statement of 80 signatures in protest of P6. I am witness to the Thousand Oaks City Council hearing where Berger’s accounting numbers were brought into question by Councilman Ed Masry as being grossly inflated. The article mentions police calls to the area but it can’t be determined if all calls are noise related or are possibly for other businesses that have problems, be it with noise or illegal credit card problems. There are four stoplights within a block of this restaurant and I am sure that some hot-footed driver might possibly accelerate away from a stoplight with the accompanying noise. Can this be blamed on P6? Not in most cases, as Agoura Road is a very busy street at most times of the day and night. My wife and I have dined at P6 at least once a month since it opened and have enjoyed the experience, as have many of our neighbors. Before P6 restaurant even opened, my wife and I hosted an open house for many of our neighbors to hear the owners Rubacky and Finefrock speak about the plans for P6. Over 50 homeowners attended. No one from the Stoneybrook Homeowners Board showed up, of which Berger was a member. Most people in attendance came away with a better feeling and understanding regarding the plans of operation for the restaurant. The P6 location will always house a restaurant. It is time that my neighbors accept where they purchased their homes. The shopping center came first. Pres Hamilton Westlake Village |
