Pianist to be featured in New West finale
Pianist Jon Kimura Parker will make his New West Symphony debut in the final Masterpiece Series Concert of the 2004-05 season at 8 p.m. Sat., May 21 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. Music director Boris Brott will conduct the performance that includes the world premiere of "Fantasy Fanfare" by Maria Newman, Symphony No. 3 in E-flat Major, Opus 97, "Rhenish" by Robert Schumann and Sergei Rachmaninov’s Concerto No. 3 in D Minor for Piano and Orchestra, Opus 30.
A native of Vancouver, Parker has appeared as a soloist with major orchestras throughout the world including the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Minnesota Orchestra and every major orchestra in Canada.
This concert is sponsored by the Dole Food Company, Inc., the Limoneira Company and the Design House Chapter.
Tickets are priced from $15 to $75 and are available by calling (800) NEW-WEST or may be purchased at the Civic Arts Plaza box office.
A pre-concert discussion will be led by music raconteur Charles McDermott, joined by members of the orchestra, at 7 p.m. preceding the performance. Informances are free and open to ticket holders for the evening’s performance.
