Newbury Park teen earns Eagle Scout
Ian James Miller, 18, the son of Cathy and Brock Miller of Newbury Park, will be recognized at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor at noon on Sat., May 14 at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church, Newbury Park.
For his Eagle Scout project, the Newbury Park High School senior and his troop painted the ticket sales building and the snack shop building at his school’s football field. His efforts added to the overall improved appearance at the football field, which had recently been renovated. Twenty helpers assisted, racking up a total of 119 hours of work.
Ian became a Boy Scout in 1998 upon joining Troop 730 and earned 22 merit badges. He served his troop in a variety of responsible capacities including senior patrol leader. At Newbury Park High School, Ian played on the water polo team for three years.
