Cancer survivor to visit Wellness Community here

2005-05-12 / Community

Pancreatic cancer survivor Tom Cronan will spend nearly six weeks on his Harley-Davidson visiting 22 Wellness Communities across the U.S. while waging a nationwide war on cancer across 6,600 miles.

The retired professor of health and fitness will bring his "WAR (Wellness/Attitude/Research) on Cancer from a Motorcycle" message to Southern California on Mon. and Tues., May 16 and 17, raising awareness of cancer survivorship and The Wellness Community’s free programs of support, education and hope.

Cronan will be escorted by motorcycle clubs, arriving in Westlake Village at The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura, 530 Hampshire Road on Tuesday afternoon.

Cronan was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March 2004 and participated in programs at The Wellness Community of East Tennessee. After finishing treatments, the Knoxville, Tenn. native began the trek on April 7 from his hometown and will finish on May 19 at The Wellness Community San Francisco East Bay.
