‘Mary Poppins’ on stage in Thousand Oaks
The Pacific Festival Ballet will turn the classic story of "Mary Poppins" into a family musical theatre ballet at 4 and 7 p.m. Fri., May 20 in the Kavli Theatre at the Countrywide Performing Arts Center, Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. Tickets are $17 to $21 with a $2 discount for groups of 15 or more.
This production is helmed by Kim Maselli, choreographer of "Heaven & Hell . . . the Journey" and the annual "Nutcracker." Broadway and film veterans Maggie Danielsen, Laura Klein and Roxanne Lee are co-choreographers.
Ryan Ashley, California Dance theatre alumni, will dance the role of Bert. Ashley has appeared on Broadway in "Saturday Night Fever" and toured the country with numerous shows.
This elaborate production will feature a flying Mary Poppins, chimney sweeps, tappers on rooftops and dancers pirouetting through chalk paintings.
