Democrats to host events
Upcoming events for Conejo Valley Democrats include the following.
The Democratic Club of Conejo Valley will host a film screening of "The Oil Factor: Behind the War on Terror" at 7:45 p.m. tonight, Thurs., April 28 in Richter Hall in the Ahmanson Science Center’s room 44 at California Lutheran University, 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks. The cost is $5 to attend.
The film is nearly an hour in length. At its conclusion, there will be a question-and-answer session with the filmmakers, Gerard Ungerman and his wife, Audrey Brohy, who formed Free-Will Productions in 1995. Ungerman has a military and media background.
The screening is sponsored by the club along with the Democratic Club of CLU, Democracy for America, Thousand Oaks, Ventura County Progressives, Conejo Greens, Global Exchange and Young Democrats of the Conejo Valley. The Democratic Women of Conejo Valley will meet at 10 a.m. Sat., May 7 at 2495 Santa Belle Place in Westlake Village, off Westlake Boulevard, north of Kanan Road. A brunch will be served.

The Democratic Club of Conejo Valley will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wed., May 11 in the boardroom at Hillcrest Center, 403 Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks.
Following a brief business meeting there will be a panel discussion. Participants in the discussion include Timm Herdt of the Ventura County Star Sacramento bureau; Andrew Gumbel, author and journalist for UK Newspaper; and Pam Smith, the national coordinator for Verified Voting. Their subject will be "Election Integrity and Voting Machines." A question-and-answer session will follow their discussion.
