T.O. mayor is pregnant
Not only is she the youngest mayor of Thousand Oaks and the first Hispanic female mayor of the city, but now Claudia Bill-de la Peña is, in her own words, the first pregnant mayor of the city.
Bill-de la Peña, 38, is five months pregnant with twins, due in August.
"So far I’ve had the perfect pregnancy," Bill-de la Peña said. "I am feeling very good."
The twins will be the first children for Bill-de la Peña and her husband, Ronald.
The mayor intends to continue her civic duties as well as her professional job as a writer with CBS 2 News in Los Angeles. She plans to take a three-month maternity leave and then return to her work.
Bill-de la Peña’s sister, who lives in Germany, recently had twins, so the sisters will have much to share.
Bill-de la Peña took on the role of mayor in December, after former Mayor Bob Wilson lost his reelection bid to Jacqui Irwin.
