ADL warns about hate mail

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has fielded dozens of calls from Jewish community members who have received almost identical hate mail recently.

The mail has been sent to Jewish households, businesses and community institutions throughout Greater Los Angeles in large manila envelopes addressed to "Jew Murderers" and similar invectives. The return address is sometimes indicated as from "Muslim Communist Radio." The envelopes typically contain pages of anti-Chinese, anti-Korean and anti-Muslim statements and pictures, including collages portraying Chinese, Koreans and Muslims as murderers, spies, terrorists and dealers of weapons of mass destruction. The envelope’s exterior has a handwritten threat stating "Die Jews, Die" and other epithets scrawled in red ink.

It has been reported that similar mail is being sent to members of the Asian, Muslim and other communities.

The Anti-Defamation League is working with the FBI, Los Angeles Police Department and the U. S. Postal Service in their investigations of this matter. Anyone who has received this or similar hate mail is urged to call the Anti-Defamation League Pacific Southwest Regional Office at (310) 446-8000 and local law enforcement agencies.
