Right to marry focus of talk

"Standing on the Side of Love" will be the subject of Rev. Helen Carroll’s talk when she addresses the Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalists at 10 a.m. Sun., April 10 at Goebel Center, 1385 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.

She’s a minister of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of San Luis Obispo.

Carroll will recount her experiences last October riding on the National Marriage Equity Express Caravan.

Along with 44 other riders she boarded a bus in Oakland for an eight-day journey, stopping in eight cities across the nation to speak out for the right of everyone to marry.

The final destination was a rally in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 11 to focus attention on civil marriages as a civil right.

The minister will refer to her Weblog, to which many added their comments as the journey progressed and stories shared by the travelers were recorded.
