Y to break ground today

The Miller Family YMCA in Newbury Park will officially kick off at 4 p.m. today, Thurs., April 7, during an onsite groundbreaking ceremony. The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking.

Located in Dos Vientos on Via Las Brisas, the Y will serve residents on the west end of Conejo Valley.

"We’ve realized for a long time that the location of the Conejo Valley YMCA on North Moorpark Road was difficult to reach from Newbury Park," said Steve Willmont, executive director of the Conejo Valley YMCA. "The new Miller Family YMCA will be close and convenient and will become an integral part of the Newbury Park community. It marks the first new YMCA in the Conejo Valley in 40 years."

It’s expected to open in the summer of 2006.
