Science Fair coming to Seaside Park

"The Joy of Science" is the theme of the 51st annual Ventura County Science Fair to be presented from Tues. through Thurs., April 26 to 28 at Seaside Park, Ventura. Public viewing of the students’ science projects will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wed., April 27 and from 2 to 6 p.m. Thurs., April 28. More than 1,000 students countywide in grades six through 12 are expected to participate.

Science Fair categories are: animal and behavioral sciences; botany; earth, space and environmental sciences; human behavioral and social sciences; mathematics, computer science and electronics; physics; biochemistry; chemistry; engineering; human biology; microbiology; and zoology.

Professionals in the sciences will judge the projects on Wed., April 27. Students with the best projects will be honored at an awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Thurs., April 28 in Anacapa Hall at Seaside Park.

The top two finishers in each age division, Junior for grades 6 through 8 and Senior for grades 9 through 12, and each science category will qualify to compete in the State Science Fair at Exposition Park, Los Angeles, on May 23 and 24.
