Chili cook-off guarantees hot fun

Conejo Valley Days 30th annual Chili Cook-off, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks, will be presented from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sun., April 24 at Conejo Creek Park, Thousand Oaks (east of the 23 Freeway at the Janss Road exit).

Those attending will get a chance to sample more than 50 different types of chili in a festive atmosphere featuring music, entertainment and a kids’ play area.

The chili selected as the "best chili" by a panel of judges from the International Chili Society will advance to the world championships.

Admission to the chili cook-off is $6, with children 12 and younger admitted free.

A "Whiskeroo Contest" to determine the Conejo Valley’s best beards will be held at 1 p.m. The contest seeks to award individuals with the best beard, softest beard, scruffiest beard, fullest beard, best mustache and most unique mustache.
